I need a good M&P set for crushing cardamom pods. Too bad I didn't have the sanity to hang my late father's device. I checked my local stores and they were either out of stock or not what I wanted. I chose to purchase through Amazon for convenience and choice. No more running to come back empty-handed. This is a very durable set, basically a 2 in 1 set. I like that the protective mat is slightly larger than the large side so it protects my granite countertops and keeps the unit from sliding. The pestle feels good in the hand. and it's just the right weight/balance for my hand recovering from carpal tunnel surgery in January and thumb release. I like that the conditioning instructions are printed on the box, which limits the amount of cardboard/paper waste. I will update as needed; I have to go and clean up my new device. Flat and deep side images are included. 02/19/2020According to manufacturer's recommendations; it slipped and slid despite the silicone mat - and when I used it to crush black cardamom pods; It still tends to slip and slide off the silicone mat, so I put something else under the silicone mat to avoid scratching the granite countertop.
