Just got my Flip-Pal and I'm really excited. So much faster than a large scanner and just as good. It doesn't have to be on the table - I can hold it in one hand while scanning - my thumb keeps the lid firmly in place. There is a marked corner on the glass surface to align the photo. Many reviewers have expressed concern that the bottom glass is constantly exposed, leaving fingerprints, dirt, and scratches. The good news, however, is that the bottom glass is NOT involved in the scanning process, so it's no big deal if it gets dirty or even scratched. It exists for one purpose only: to see through an inverted flip pal. The only jar we need to keep clean is the jar under the lid. The SD card is very durable so it can be easily moved back and forth. (And there's a USB converter if you need one.) Most of my photos are old and therefore small, so I haven't tried the Stitch feature yet. Very, very happy with the Flip Pal. Fyi, Windows Live Photo Gallery is a great default photo viewer and editor. It's a fast and easy editor for cropping and revitalizing old photos with automatic adjustments and sharpening (detail adjustment) etc. The only missing feature is straightening - I use Picasa for that. (It has been discontinued, but you can still find the file to download via Google search.) Please note that when editing a .jpg file, regardless of the editor you use, pixels are lost each time you edit and save it. It is desirable to do all the editing at the same time, if possible, so as not to lose too many pixels when saving. (With the Flip-PaI, I use 600 dpi for scanning to get an image with more pixels first. It's still fast and you can lift the lid once the image is ready, even if the scanner is still buzzing.)
