Writing instruments are objects that have a personal meaning in our lives. We all have (or had) favorite writing or drawing paraphernalia that we always return to or would love to get our hands on again. This short but thick and heavy pencil clutch is just such an item. At first glance, this doesn't seem like a comfortable pen for work. It's shorter than most drawing and wooden pencils, thicker than most pencils, and its weight is an immediate indicator of fatigue. Lead 5.6 mm does not help either. It looks too big for daily writing or small drawing work. But appearances can be deceiving, this tool allows you to draw, sketch, write and shade in a multitude of ways, you can even sharpen any custom shape with sandpaper or a knife. Its weight and thickness are not intrusive for those who like to take pencil and paper for a walk or spend hours of drawing sessions. Some even use it for more industrial purposes to use on wood, cardboard or even metal. You can write long essays with it as long as you keep turning the tip so you don't get a wide line, but it might be a bit heavy for this app, you. It has solid build quality and only a tiny rattle when you drop it on your laptop, for example. But the real magnet is the raw brass finish. Not only does it look great, it also has a patina that gives it a character all of its own. The leads supplied by Kaweco are nice and smooth, you might want to try other brands. In addition, Koh-I-Noor offers metallic and artist pastel leads for this pencil.
