Review on Design Engineering 010392 High Temperature Reflective by Brian Whitmore

Great tape, add spray glue just in case

Absolutely awesome, definitely brings the temperature down on my consumption. Consistent with other people's comments online about the tape peeling off prematurely, I first sprayed the item to be wrapped with 3M Super 77 Spray Adhesive. In my case, I taped the turbine inlet I built since it's on the hot side of mine Turbine. Before I wrapped the air intake, my first few rides with the car showed heat exposure after full hard hits, especially when it's hotter outside. I installed the tape by measuring the diameter (3 inches in my case) and adding about 1/8 inch just to get full coverage. It took a while but I flipped each strip and sprayed 3M glue on the back as well. After several hours of operation at higher engine temperatures, the tape behaved as expected, feeling cool to the touch shortly after the vehicle was parked and showing no signs of sagging or peeling. A few rides and days later same result. I even sprinkled it with water to wash away road debris. One last thing worth noting, any radius will be difficult to wrap. To do this, I cut the bandage in half and used shorter strips that were 1.5 to 2 inches wide to give 180 degree coverage. If you're wrapping your intake or intercooler hose and your filter or sleeve is the same diameter, I recommend leaving the gold tape on the back just long enough for your filter to snap into place. In my case, I'm using a 3" K&N cone and it was too narrow to fit the gold foil. After a few frustrating attempts, I finally threw away a 3" section as it was too worn down in attempts to install my filter. be considered presentable. See the attached picture of my motor for reference.
