The screw must offer enough resistance before the ratchet will start to work. Without this resistance, the screwdriver either works like a normal screwdriver or you have to use your other hand to get the ratchet to work. The second problem is that the bits are not held firmly in the holder. If you're someone who throws your tools back in the toolbox (or worse, drops your screwdriver on the floor), expect to find yourself needing to insert bits into the holder from time to time. but it is in your box.
