I live in a large apartment - and there is NO built-in ethernet cabling. So while my living room has most of the computing gear, the living room has its fair share - TV, Apple TV, TiVo, XBox, etc. Wi-Fi usage can be intermittent, so I wanted something "wired". I have tried several products, the good news is this item works! Installation was a little less easy than shown, but once I downloaded the appropriate app and placed everything in the right place, everything went smoothly. Compared to the ActionTec COAX solution and the Netgear Powerline solution, the devolo Magic really stays connected and seems stable. It's not very fast though - using the Speedtest app on Windows over a 400Mbps spectrum connection - the best I can do is 30-50Mbps. (The apartment was rented less than 4 years old so I don't think it's the age of the wiring). other solutions I mentioned. The iOS app makes it convenient to check things and overall I'm satisfied. But if I see speeds in the 200Mbps range, I'll update this review and raise the stars!
