I've been making waffles with the Toastmaster for years, gave this one a try as the removable plates are much easier to clean in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, this appliance doesn't get hot enough to properly brown the waffles, so they come out fluffy like pancakes no matter how long they bake (tried anything from 2 to 7 minutes). If you are buying this as a sandwich maker or pan then ignore this review as I was only focusing on the waffles. But as a waffle maker it's a "failure" and I have to go back to the tedious hand cleaning of my regular waffle maker. sigh
