you get what you pay for. I used the cheap crappy soldering iron holder that comes with the hobbyist soldering kits you see on this page. And I have burn marks on my desk to prove it. There are no more burn marks. This piece is strong, easy to use, heavy weight and comes with a spare 599B tip cleaner. If you just have a custom iron (rather than a whole repair station) then this is for you. I have not used any of these similarly styled unbranded holders, but I am a firm believer in the "you get what you pay for" mantra. I highly recommend this product.
