I have a 92 Camaro RS 3.1L. Instead of using the paperclip method, I decided to buy this reader. Connected directly to the OBD1 connector in the fuse box under the dash. When you turn on the ignition, this device will flash the check engine light using codes stored in the ECM. Worked well and identified code 43 for me. Although it's a bit pricey for what it does, it can be used on multiple OBD1 vehicles and that makes it so you don't have to squirm under the driver's dash to get around to use a paper clip. Would recommend to anyone who needs to read codes stored in the ECM on older Chevy OBD1 systems.
