Perfect for adding additional brackets to your pickup platform!

These hooks are just what I need for my 05 F250. I found some of the weights were too short to connect to the factory mounts. Which brings me to my next point: I see a lot of people putting them up high in the bed. I think if it suits the person's need to put them higher, do so. But personally I think it's better to mount them low. A few months ago I had to tie metal roof panels. The factory mounts were too high to apply force to the load. I had to ask Lowe for blocks to put under the straps. That's when I decided to look for a solution and found these awesome D-hooks. The next time I moved the roof panel it was much better! No blocks, just buckle up and go! Installation: **Hardware NOT included.** I used 1" bolts, 1½ washers on the top and 2" washers with a lock nut on the bottom. I already had painted nuts and washers that I used, but stainless steel would have been a better option. After drilling the holes, I applied some black spray paint to each side, then I applied RTV sealant under the D brackets and between the washers. and D-Bracket Each D-Bracket is installed immediately after the bed is turned up and between the slats. (See photos) The position they are installed in makes them almost completely flush in the bed and out of reach of standard width plywood. Speaking of plywood, this is another example of what you may need to tie the bottom anchor point. Pros: * These mounts are very strong. * D hook drops almost flush * One mounting hole is easier to install and looks cleaner. * Easy to use and connect different straps/ropes etc. * Small ledges under the anchor grip the bed and prevent it from turning. Cons: * None. They do everything I need for a great price. Final Thoughts: I considered several other options before settling on this one. Other mounts had two mounting holes, which I not only found ugly, but also made drilling the holes difficult. With a hole, you don't have to worry if it's a little off. Make sure you paint and tape over the drilled holes, the last thing you want is your bed rusting where the weights are attached!
