I use this on ebony and rosewood frets and it moisturizes and cleans them great. All you have to do is wipe it off, leave it on for about 10-15 minutes (or longer if the throat is really dry) and then wipe off the excess. Repeat if necessary. They darken the wood significantly and have a mild but rather pleasant smell. You don't even have to remove the strings - I just slip a tissue paper right under the strings and make sure the oil gets into every slot on the fretboard. Make sure you wash your hands after use or wear gloves (I do both) when applying as they will be very wet.
