Review on Brix Refractometer With ATC by Andres Imaging

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not 30% Brix, but 10% full scale - the images are accurate.

Exactly as advertised except 32% Brix - it is actually 10% Brix, full scale - and the grid (scale) looks exactly like the picture. So I'm deducting a star because the written description isn't accurate and if you use it for 30% Brix (like sweet grapes) you'll fall off the charts. For my use case, although that's a good thing, I want to compare the residual sugars in a wine after it's been fermented. I did a quick test and it seems perfect. The optical quality was much better than I expected - they're not difficult to make and obviously mass-produced, but other than that - the price is very satisfying to me. There is an auxiliary light - thought it could be paid for, but it needs to be plugged in and there is no switch. I haven't tried connecting it to my phone, but given its 1.5 watt power, it may not work. You'll need an adapter anyway as it's an old USB 1.0/2.0 style that doesn't directly fit into USB-C or USB-mini like you would on Android or Mac. There are a few little-used droppers - they get dirty easily, so take care when using them - don't reuse them if you're drinking from something you're about to drink. Use a separate sample pan. I would still rinse after each use though. Some people have complained about the "dark display". The principle of their work is that a sample must be present in order for there to be enough light to see the grating. It works great with medium lighting in my living room. A cell phone bulb would suffice if you were actually somewhere in the dark and needed extra lighting.

Pros
  • RANGE: Salinity range 0-100 ppt; The Brix value range is between 0 and 10%; 1.000-1.070 g/cm3 Density
Cons
  • Some errors
