Very slow heat transfer

Probably great for intended purpose. If you have thin pans that are prone to sticking and hot spots, or you have a stovetop that gets too hot no matter how low you turn it, this is a great solution. But if you already have decent pans that heat evenly and a stovetop with very controlled heat, then this is a step backwards. I thought maybe a diffuser like this would allow my budget pots to function like ultra-expensive pans with lots of layers and such. But no, it didn't work. When using a plate, I've found that the pans take at least twice as long to come up to temperature. And when they heat up, the pans seem to be about half the temperature they would be without the plate. I had trouble boiling water at all on the small burner on my stove. If *too much* heat was your problem, that would be fine. I think the problem is that simply putting the pot on top of the plate doesn't provide efficient heat transfer. This makes cheaper pans not perform like more expensive ones. If that's your goal, a copper cone is probably your best bet, although it may still suffer from the same problem. *Edit: Mine has also deformed quite a bit, only suitable for gas stoves.
