Sometimes you just don't want to unplug your injector, sensor or connector. These pins make it easier to connect a sensor connector that gets smaller and/or harder to access every year. I know that with injectors it's easier to diagnose a problem by looking at the voltage and pressure drop of the fuel when the system is full and the engine is off. I found many shorted or plugged injectors and some shorted injector drivers in the PCM doing a tap test to open the injector and look for a drop in fuel pressure using the rear sensors to power the injectors and to ground.
