I spent about 6 hours looking for a good processor. This is my first and I never thought I would need one. I've used it about every other day for the last two weeks that I've had it. Next to my coffee machine, this is the only device that is on my valuable kitchen table! One of the reasons I even decided it was worth considering a good food processor was so my hands/wrists wouldn't get worn out from all the work I do (stay here mom and I cook a lot completely new). I'm a first time food processor owner (with a quality blender) and I'm glad I bought a) Cuisinart b) 14 cup (I have a husband and a 2 and 4 year old so our meal isn't huge) . I make more portions and prepare in advance, so this guy is my accomplice. Most often I cook hummus, chopped greens, grated carrots from this processor (I found grated carrots delicious). Salad with raisins and mayonnaise / yoghurt and pineapple) and grated cheese. I plan on making borscht, coleslaw, coleslaw and dressing, and experimenting with chopping herbs. Oh how I love shredding a big hunk of cheddar in exactly 20 seconds (my arm doesn't hurt anymore)! Follow the instructions in the manual and freeze the cheddar cheese for easy machine making. Pizza lovers are also not advised to chop mozzarella on top). I made chicken soup the other day and really enjoyed the time I saved by slicing up the carrots and celery. I'm already feeling the time savings and efficiency of this machine. I'm glad I appreciated it too because that big chunk of cheese fills the entire container! Additionally, coleslaw will easily do this with half a head of cabbage. For those curious, homemade hummus is a game changer. I'm not interested in eating hummus at the store, but I always can't get enough of Greek/Middle Eastern restaurants. Yes, there is a difference (note: you also need to include the time to shell the chickpeas, which can be made easier with some baking soda). Counter BUT, the plastic is not as dark as shown in these Revain photos. I'd say it's just a little darker than the clear plastic shown on the white models (I personally like it better, and it's dark enough that the beet stain is probably a little less noticeable). This long review gives you my experience with this beast machine so far and I'm glad I chose it! I was nervous about the 14 cup models as looking down the Revain rabbit hole made me focus on the negatives which doesn't always give you a clear picture of things. Many people misuse it or don't bother to read the manual. But I plan on having this investment until my boys are grown, so hopefully that way I'll save myself a little bit of tendonitis in the future ;) In that regard, I'm gentle with the machine, hand washing and inserting/snapping parts with care and love. I say to everyone who is becoming the owner of a food processor for the first time: Go for it! Go for 14 cups! If something catastrophic happens I will add it to this review.
