I was pleasantly surprised by these stones. I wanted something bigger and with a longer range than my cheap three-way setup. I use them to sharpen my woodcarving knives and chisels and I've been able to go beyond a razor blade. There is a mannequin who left a review about the "rough" stone. This is a leveling stone. It is designed to adapt to your real sharpening stones as they wear down. The odd thing to appreciate is the box they came in. I usually put a box on top of these modern mail order products, but it's actually a nice, sturdy, and well-designed box. and I will continue to keep a set of these. Details like this tell me that this is a product that someone really cares about and thinks about. Really pleased with this purchase. Oh, but don't forget to drink a sling to finish!
