Because they are long they hold twice as much meat as 12 inch skewers. I grilled six pounds of steak in one set. Their V-shape means they don't flex when hung across a 16-inch span, so you don't have to put them on a trellis. (I made my skewer pit with concrete blocks and cooked cherries on charcoal.)
