I am changing my previous rating from one star to four stars. Although I had trouble attaching the smoke alarm to the base when the base was bolted to the ceiling, I eventually successfully secured it with double sided tape. It seems to work well and is an attractive little smoke alarm. The seller responded very quickly to my complaint about the device and offered a replacement or refund. Unfortunately, there is one thing to note about these detectors: If you live in Massachusetts and are trying to get the smoke detector certification required to sell your home in that state, these detectors do not qualify for certification. Although they are photovoltaic, they do not have a UL rating for a 10-year sealed lithium battery, which is the standard required in Massachusetts for certification of compliance. While they are cute and visually unobtrusive little devices that can do their job well, I can't use them for my purpose of complying with the rules of selling my house here.
