Good door/lid for its purpose

This review is for a 2U "Rack Flip Panel". Made with high quality, good hinge, good latch, good color. Its deadbolt locks the door by sliding against the hinge behind the bare guide. That's pretty much how it works. I had to make oval holes for the screws horizontally to fit the width of my rack. Let me tell you what you can't do with this door. • Suppose you want to put a door in front of a shelf. You cannot mount the shelf with the ears up as the shelf flange/screws will interfere with the latch. You need to install the shelves upside down. • Suppose you have a component with handles that you want to hide behind a door. You cannot use depth adapters to mount this component in a rack because the adapter's flange/screws interfere with locking. I got around this by installing the secondary rail about 2 inches behind the main rail (shown in the photo). Yes, screwing that secondary rail in was a real hassle. I really like this cover, but for what I want to do (hiding the handles from eyeballs and casual fingers) it's too much work. In the future I will use Middle Atlantic SECL-2. I would definitely use this cover if I wanted to dress up a storage shelf (installed upside down which would be a shame as things could fall off the sides) or give front access to the inside of the shelf.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Security
