I only got it because of its cuteness and compactness; its lifespan is a mystery to me. The recommended service life is two years, although the store's description says five years. Instead of a thermoelectric generator, I envisioned a compressor kit. You turn it on at 12 degrees and it stops cooling after two weeks; by the time you get home, the temperature is 15 degrees; you turn it down to 11 degrees and it begins to function again; it maintains that temperature for four days before the interior temperature rises; you reset it to 10 degrees; etc.; and wine tastes better if there are no drops.
