I have only used this product as a cold pack so far, but I am very satisfied with it. It freezes quickly and stays cold for at least 20 minutes, which is the longest anyone should be using a cold pack at a stretch. These gel packs get cold enough to be effective but not so cold that I have to wrap them in towels before using them, though I do recommend applying the over a T-shirt or similar thin fabric to protect the skin. I keep mine in the freezer inside a Ziploc bag to ward off the freezer-burn smell that seems to permeate all my ice packs, and so far that seems to be working. I like having the option to use it as a heat pack, but right now it's more convenient for me to keep two of these gel packs in the freezer for cold use and use my heating pad while they're cooling down. Be sure to give yourself a 10-minute break between ice and heat!
