On the one hand, the filter is easy to assemble and works well. We first ran water to clean it and used it for a couple of weeks. However, we later found that if you filter a glass of water and leave it overnight, an oily film will appear on the water surface after a day. Fuuuu. Keep in mind that brand new Solo mugs were used, so they weren't dishwasher leftovers or anything like that. At first I wasn't sure if it was the filter and started reading about the possible reasons for what could be in the water and that the filter doesn't remove some of the contaminants that can cause such an oil film on the surface, but I finally got smarter and did a simple test by filling two cups of Solo. One with a filter and the other with water straight from the tap. Later the next day the filtered water had the usual oily foam but the tap water was clear as you would expect pure water. I'm giving it two stars because everything else works so well and I'm tempted to try a replacement filter in the hope that it's a defect in a unit.
