This is a must-have product for electronics lovers. I have used this product to remove all types of components from thru hole to surface mount with this product. You'll need a little practice as the alloy can be sticky compared to standard solders, but its low melting point and fluidity make it worth it. Feel free to use flux if using alloy. The sticky flux that comes with the alloy helps keep it where you want it and helps keep the iron tip clean. The alloy will roll in the presence of a thin flux (I use water level viscosity, not straight flux for cleaning) so use flux on the copper braid and some standard solder to clean the board after removing the part.
