Review on ๐Ÿ”ฉ Atmama 3-way Thermostatic Mixing Valve with 1/2NPT Connections - Crafted from Solid Brass by Jason Sullivan

Perfect valve with no burns

This thermostatic mixing valve works great and was easy for me to install. For 10 years I had a badly adjusted Kohler sink faucet that scalded me many, many times. I wanted to lower the temperature of the water in the water heater, but temperatures below 140 degrees Fahrenheit can cause bacterial growth in the tank. I had no idea this device existed until I did a web search and settled on this model because it came with US household brass adapters. It also came with teflon tape and lots of rubber o-rings. After installing with both, it doesn't leak. I bought 3 new hoses and used an old brass tee on the cold water supply so one goes from the cold water inlet to the sink faucet and the other from the cold water supply at home to this valve on the labeled "C". I used a different hose, to connect the hot water source of the house directly to this valve at the inlet marked "H". To this valve, at the connection point marked with an arrow, I connected a hose leading to the hot water in the sink faucet. The temperature markings on the Faucet are somewhat arbitrary in the sense that it depends on how cold your cold water is and specifically how hot your hot water is coming from your hot water source.Using an accurate electronic kitchen thermometer I measured the temperature of the hot source water at 147 degrees Fahrenheit which I need to keep two neighboring apartments and my house upstairs no hot water runs out and bacteria cannot multiply in the reservoir. I set the temp on this valve to 100F and then measured and felt the water on the back of my hand (the most sensitive area) to be the hottest I could endure without fear of burning myself. . At the 100 mark it was too cold and at the next mark on the valve it was too hot. I set it to 115 F water temp (best feeling for me and my wife) which does NOT match the markings on the valve. NO BIG DEAL! The valve works great: when I push the faucet to its hottest temperature, I now get a maximum of 115 degrees Fahrenheit, and even if the hot water has cooled a bit since it was last used, the valve lets in more of the source right away. hot water, slightly overlapping the cold water so it doesn't get warm. The valve also does not extend the time it takes for the water to reach the set temperature. So it doesn't take longer to remove cold water from a 35 foot hot water line if it hasn't been used for a long time. The valve completely shuts off the cold water until the temperature of the hot water starts to rise and it needs to be mixed with cold water to get the temperature I need. I know it sounds terribly spoiled of us not just adjusting the temperature with a faucet lever, but with this particular faucet, very little movement was required to provide a wide range of temperatures. It's impossible to easily adjust the temperature of our expensive faucet without constantly fiddling with it. My wife loves it too! Set and forget! I'm sorry to be so excited about the temperature valve, but I got badly burned. I just installed it 2 days ago, but if it doesn't work in any way I'll revise my review.
