My SO uses a really absurd amount of washing-up liquid when washing dishes. I thought maybe it was because the common sponge had soaked it up and it seemed like there was less soap than there really was. So I bought them hoping that if the soap wasn't absorbed it would help him use them less. nope He lathered it up and then put it under water like you would a regular sponge to lather it up, but that just washed away the soap. It's also not good for scraping food off dishes and can be a little slippery to hold on to. All this to say you know what it's great for? Clean cat puke (and other cat waste) from carpet. These rubber fingers can go in there. I was uncomfortable with paper towels as they don't work well and need to be thrown away. Cloth rags get dirty and difficult to clean. Also, I don't want to wash the crumpled rag with other things. It's just a personal denial, but it's hard to ignore. With a silicone sponge, all dirt is washed off immediately, the smell does not remain. I also use it to wash my body in the shower. It gently exfoliates but is still gentle enough that I can use it in the shower every time. Only a few little fingers come off after a year, but I don't use them for their intended purpose either.
