I had to cut a circle about 15" in diameter on hardboard (used in bathrooms as waterproof underlay used before tiling). ) for mosaic project. I made a conductor so that the puzzle is guided all the time. The material is 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick and this blade cuts through it with no difficulty. On my first try, the cut was perfectly straight, but the circle was still too big and I had to cut off about 1/4 inch. When trying to remove this small strip, the blade slipped sideways so the cut wasn't quite straight. I don't think it's a problem with the blade, just not enough material on the outside to keep the blade straight. lesson to learn. Trim enough material outside the cut to keep the blade straight, leaving some clearance for the circle to fit inside the metal case.
