Don't put it on the shower floor

I had 2 exact same Sony ICF-CD73W models. The first lasted a long time and had a decent reception in the shower. Not very good, but I was usually able to get the right channel. A few years later the first died. I really liked this radio so I bought a new one. For the price you would expect them to be at least as waterproof as a waterproof watch worn in the shower. I have a water resistant watch that costs about the same and have showered with the watch for years. This radio is waterproof enough to use in the shower, but you must keep it off the floor. Soul. This is because the radio's case is made of two plastic halves held together with silicone, and the water resistance of silicone is weak. There needs to be a gasket behind the silicone to make the radio case truly waterproof. There is no gasket inside the radio case that would really protect it from water. The housing of the radio receiver is made entirely of waterproof silicone. This is strange since both the CD slot and the battery compartment are sealed with gaskets. I used to use the radio in the shower that was attached to the shower head. So I never had any problems. However, the radio is very heavy. This puts a heavy load on any shower enclosure hanging from the shower head and also takes up a lot of space in the shower enclosure. I had this second radio in a few months, no problem. But when I tried installing the radio on the shower floor, it worked fine for about a month, but then the radio stopped working. When I took it apart it wasn't full of water but all the electronics inside the radio were wet. After disassembling the radio to let the electronics dry during the day, it suddenly turned out to be working again. Hang it over the shower head. In my experience, the shower jet didn't hurt. Exposed to more than accidental shower spray water will seep into this radio as water penetrates through the silicone and there is no watertight seal. Personally, I will not buy another Sony ICF-CD73W. Model. I think for the money you can get a better quality shower radio with an inner padding that protects the radio case so the radio case is more waterproof.
