This is a great safety device for my mom. She has dementia with the fear that "someone" will break into her house while she sleeps. This device gives her a sense of security. The reason for the 3 stars is in the design! The lock is fixed in the device with a rubber O-ring, which quickly gives way and the locking mechanism falls out immediately! A good workaround for this is to replace the o-ring with a medal-retaining ring, which you can find at your local hardware store. After replacing the rubber sealing ring with a steel snap ring, the machine works perfectly.
