Using a calibrated laboratory mercury thermometer as a reference, both thermocouples showed an error of 1 degree or less at various liquid temperatures. Both thermocouples are usually exactly matched to each other and never deviate from each other by more than a few tenths of a degree. This is a great tool for working with HVAC. And you will find many other uses for it. I didn't calibrate mine as I didn't need it right away, but you have that option too. The plastic case looks like cheap, too hard plastic. But the soft armored hull is good and the plastic doesn't bother. So I think it's quite an expensive tool compared to others that are much more expensive for the same purpose.
