Review on 🔧 Tecumseh 640172 Carb by Alif Eagle

For the money this is too expensive for replacement carburetors. But you get a genuine Tecumseh part, made in the Czech Republic. I could probably go with the 640350 to save some money as the bolts seem to fit, but the main difference from other carburetor models is the size of the carburetor and the direction of attachment to the valve cover. (facing the intake manifold). Model 640350 is slightly larger and has this port on the valve cover facing to the side. This carburetor comes with an intake manifold side gasket and is primed as shown. I installed it on a MTD 3.5 HP Edger that I bought at a flea market. This carburetor ran the engine like new (one pressure after filling) and required no tuning. I also replaced the fuel line as the old one was pretty much fused to the old carburetor. For the money it was still less than taking it to the store ($90 an hour) and it was less fuss than trying to clean an original 10 year old carburetor and figuring out what gaskets, gaskets and bores replaced and need to be cleaned. I also use a 3 blade edge knife with no problems. Overall I am happy with the purchase but wish there were more purchasing options for this carb model.
