My wife's office has a complex installation that requires her PC monitor to be available on both a second monitor on a stand and a large TV. This has been achieved for years by connecting to a PC's HDMI and VGA outputs and using the HDMI switch to select the PC's main monitor or TV. Every HDMI switch we tried was poorly designed. Mechanical switches were cheap and only lasted two or three months. Even when they worked, we were never able to display an image on all three screens at the same time. This active splitter saved the day. The HDMI signal input at the center port is duplicated to all four HDMI output ports at the same time. There are no switches to break. Power is supplied via a standard USB cable, which is included with the 5V AC adapter. Setup is as easy as connecting devices. I chose a short, high-bandwidth HDMI 2.2 cable to power the splitter. While none of the monitors we currently use require a high-speed connection, future monitors likely will, and this splitter will support them. So far no problems. The picture quality does not change. It just works.
