Bought to adapt an old Traverse trunk bag to a new MIK rack (Bontrager BackRack as mentioned in several other reviews); The bag was still in great condition and fit for my cycling purposes, so I saw no reason to upgrade to a MIK bag for around $130 when I could just buy an adapter plate for a fraction of that cost. Installation instructions are included for assembly. either in a bag or basket but I found it pretty obvious without looking at the instructions. My method was to attach the adapter to the MIK stand and place my bag on top to see how it's positioned. Then I removed the pocket and painted the top of the mounting holes with gold nail polish (don't laugh). As soon as I pressed the bag against the plate again, the nail polish moved to the bottom of the bag, clearly marking the spots where I needed to make holes in the bag. I'm not sure if this method will help anyone else, but it worked really well for me. The MIK key that comes with the adapter plate has a slot where you can attach a key ring; It does NOT come with a ring, so be aware if that bothers you. I just hung it on a new key ring I had on hand to make it stand out from my cycling gear. Eventually I might attach a cord or carabiner instead. I will note that my MIK key is grey, not black as shown in the product image, but personally I don't care about the colour. (The adapter plate is black as shown.) Lockable: The MIK system is "lockable” in the sense that the mount is inserted and locked around the MIK stand device or MIK support plate, effectively securing them together. For those who have ever had a velcro secured trunk bag and experienced the bag sliding to one side or the other, this system prevents that from happening. It does NOT mean "lockable" in the sense that it is a security lock; that's absolutely not true. The MIC latch can be opened by inserting a pocket knife blade into the slot; "Key" MIC is just simpler and more reliable. (And in fact, if someone wanted the contents of your suitcase so badly and couldn't get them off the shelf, they'd probably just cut open the bag, considering most suitcases are made of different fabrics.) If you're upset about it that it's not a security lock, well that's not its function so I don't know what to tell you.
