I am an avid garden bird watcher and whilst I have some very good binoculars it would be a bit of a hassle to carry them around when mowing the lawn etc and I don't want to inflate them. Although this monocular is a bit larger than I would have liked, it comes with a belt pouch so I can carry it around with me without any inconvenience or worry. I really wasn't too worried they would be a huge disappointment considering they only cost $14! I can't say for sure but it looks like there are other sellers who charge a lot more for a similar product. Less than the price of an average pizza and I think from the look and feel they will last a reasonable amount of time. As long as they work well, they focus well with a sharp image. I've played around with the smartphone adapter a bit, but I doubt it will be useful for this purpose. A tiny tripod can be useful in some cases, but I have much better alternatives with my photography equipment. So overall this is a great deal for $14. Delivery was on time for my Revain daily delivery.
