Decided to change the filter for the first time in a year and a half because. The air smelled strongly as the air conditioning started blowing. This filter seems to have gotten rid of the smell, although it does have its own odd smell (noticeable only on startup), like new plastic. This is definitely an improvement and hopefully the smell will disappear from the filter soon. Although the filter seems to work, I felt I should mention the quality. Due to the stupid way Tesla placed the air filters, you have to stack them on top of each other and use the tabs to pull the filters out. My first complaint is that the glue used to attach the tabs to these filters is of very poor quality. I'm assuming they only used a dab of superglue as the entire page started peeling off when I changed filters. A very strong epoxy resin has been used compared to the original filters. It would definitely solve my problems with it. The second complaint is the foam from the sponge on the outside, which can get caught on the metal grille next to the filter position if you're careless. When I tried to throw the first filter in the hole it got stuck which led me to find the first problem. Since the tab was too weak, the only way I could detach it was to pry it away from the grille with a long screwdriver. I think to solve both problems I strongly recommend using the rubber material that most high quality filters use. This prevents sticking and makes the filters stiffer than the current design. Overall this is a filter, I'm not overly impressed but it gets the job done. My biggest concern is being able to pull out the bottom filter in the future as the tab barely holds.
