In general, I'm happy with the sight's performance. When I received the device I did a star test and it looked perfectly collimated. The focus knob is smooth with no play. It does an excellent job of separating binary stars. The Moon and Saturn were slightly clearer and sharper compared to what I saw on my Celestron Nexstar 6SE SCT. Metallic flake paint is fine. The 2 inch star is nice but I took a star off because the star diagonal is lower quality and doesn't have a compression ring to hold the eyepieces in place to avoid damaging the eyepiece when tightening. The device features a Vixen style dovetail mount that fits the Celestron Nextar 6" and 8" mount. The mount also has threaded holes for use with a tripod. Maks are known for their durability and light weight, and this unit is great for trips where large scopes would not be acceptable. Keep in mind that the optics aren't very fast, so you're limited in the number of deep sky objects you can see. Max excels at brighter objects like planets, the moon, double stars, and ground objects. I would recommend a 6 inch reflector to anyone buying their first scope. The 6-inch Dobsonian is a more versatile scope for those who want to view a range of celestial objects and don't want to break the bank in the process. This scope goes well with my 6" SCTs and 8" Dobs.
