Attic Utilization - Antennas

I just installed this in the attic of my two story house with concrete tile roof and am getting 100% signal quality. I chose it because I live 30 miles from the train stations, so I decided to get something that can do twice as much to account for the damping through the roof. When it arrived I thought assembly would be required as the box is tiny. It took me 15 minutes to get ready. The instructions are a bit confusing as the first two pictures show reflectors installed upside down. Just use the photo on the box as a guide. I installed it in the middle of the attic because I read that the signal is better the farther it is from an obstacle (roof). Pointed it in the general direction, routed the cable along the wall and connected it to the HDHomeRun Connect Duo tuner. I set up the software, scanned the channels, then installed the HDHomeRun signal test app on my phone and went back to the roof to tweak the alignment (a few degrees off). Now I get 100% connectivity to all major networks. If I were to mount the antenna outdoors I would go for one that uses less plastic. In my experience, UV exposure will make the plastic brittle and eventually break.

Cons
  • Poorly Thoughtful
