I live on the [terrible] edge of flat roofs. This type of roof has a vertical plank around the edge that collects water (leaves, needles, leftover crows). In theory, water should drain into corners where holes lead to downspouts. I wanted the channel screen to be made up of mostly vertical elements so that small items could pass with the water while larger items were held back. The bottom is flexible and hangs well in the scuppers, but may work better with a round hole. They're easily visible from the ground, but since they're black, they're not very noticeable. I just received and installed these and am hoping they will last longer than the Frost King plastic rain screen which was too small and became brittle in less than a year. At least they don't rust. In case the dimensions of the product are not important: the diameter of the spherical part is 5 inches, the height of the spherical part is 4 inches, the depth of the part that enters the downcomer is 1.75 inches.
