Bits were ordered to solve my milling problem. First a little background - I have 2 CNC routers. One is assembled from a kit, the other by an American manufacturer. I use Vectric CUT2D software to create G-code. One of my projects had relatively small letters with a "stencil" font, so there were no unsupported parts of the letters. I tried using V-Bit but as it went deeper the sides of the letters became too thin and fell apart. The smallest end mill I had before buying it was 1/8 inch. My letters were so small on a 2β³ x 4β³ field that the 1/8β³ cutter couldn't cut all the thin parts, leaving gaps. I ordered these 1/16β³ bits to try and cut out the letters and keep thin lines. They worked great! Cuts require almost no additional processing in the corners or top edges. For the main cut I used my large machine and cut the letters out of 1/8" thick polystyrene. The end result was perfect. Clean cuts throughout and no fusible edges. The dual flute design allows the shavings to be blown off by a vacuum device being used to keep the material clean. The drill bits cut cleanly with no heat to melt the plastic base.So far I've cut Styrofoam,MDF and pine with no clogging or bad edges. Will refer to this supplier for additional bits in the future.
