Review on AV Access Extender Operating Synchronously by Joshua Castillo

Works with a 4K USB camera BUT slight video/color degradation with ethernet vs. ethernet. Native USB

Product works great as advertised, no issues. Just plug it in and it works instantly on my Mac and PC. Both systems recognized the "USB" camera as soon as it was connected. My only complaint is that when using the camera over a short (20ft) ethernet run (using a Category 6 cable) the video output quality is noticeably worse than using the same camera plugged directly into the computer's USB port . Image quality is still excellent with my 4K USB camera (with Sony CCD chip), however colors are less vibrant, whites are much more "blown out" and less vibrant. In LED bulb lighting conditions I got a lot of weird shutter artifacts that were NOT there when the camera was used exclusively via USB. this device is added to the mix. Initially, the camera can communicate with my computer at 5 Gb/s, but when I use this device, the speed drops to 480 Mb/s, so the color depth suffers to maintain a decent frame rate. As I said, it's not. that's a deal breaker for me. I use this device to look inside my CO2 laser engraving machine which is across from my shop and too far away to use a standard USB cable. The software I use to control the laser engraver has built-in USB support. Camera so I can see a live image of the item with the pattern overlaid as a visual guide to where the laser will engrave the pattern onto my item. Unfortunately my software doesn't support using an IP camera so I'm stuck with a USB based camera and need to figure out how to get it working when it's 30 feet away. This device solved the problem for me! Works like a champ. I'm glad I bought it and would definitely recommend it. Just wanted to let people know that they may experience a slight drop in video quality, although this could ALSO be 100% my camera related, so keep that in mind. mind too.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
