I've been fixing my cars with and without a scanner for years. With the latest technology built into the latest models, diagnosis can be difficult without a high-end scan tool that costs between $800 and $1,000. Look no further. This tool does almost anything for less than $200. To be clear, this isn't a programmer like Alpha-OBD (that's the only exception), but it definitely has the ability to perform two-way communication with a huge test suite. Yes, it communicates with all electronic modules (powertrain, BCM, airbag, power steering, etc.). I was able to contact the BCM, turn on individual bulbs in the instrument cluster, ambient light, washer fluid. You can reset the parking brake and battery registration. I recently managed to fix a 2008 Ford Taurus. The Alt/Gen light on the dash came on. Within seconds of scanning the system, I was able to access the code, and then the program provided a quick link to the internet to fix the most common errors and details. In my case it was a plug that had residue that reduced conductivity. After cleaning, it is ready for use. The user interface is easy to read and understand. Looks very similar to the high end instruments I researched. There is one exception, the user manual could have been a bit more detailed, but that is the only downside and my reason for the 4 star usage rating. What the manual lacks, their technical support team makes up for. I was concerned from the start about the A30D's compatibility with my 2019 Dodge Ram 1500. They currently use something called the "FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automotive) SGW (Security Gateway)". To be able to interact with the system, read and erase OBD2 codes or perform bi-directional tests , we either have to spend $50 a year to get access to "automatic authorization", grant access to these options or a so-called "Chrysler 12 + I chose the second option, I had no idea what a Chrysler 12 +8 cable was until I spoke to "Echo" from XTools Tech Support. Before purchasing the tool I provided my VIN number which is listed on the Revains website and received a response and recommendations the very next day. You might think that the reason why there was urgency in the response was to get the sale and then delay the response time after the purchase. Well it hasn't gotten that far and so I think this is a great product, fit for purpose and worth a great company. For the past few weeks, Echo and I have been talking about simple usage and compatibility questions. Every question submitted so far will be answered the very next day. Unbelievable! I have a suggestion: send them your VIN so they can confirm it is linked to your vehicle. In my experience, they respond very quickly. Thanks for a great tool.
