Review on πŸ”΄ EBC Brakes DP31614C Redstuff Ceramic Low Dust Brake Pad: Superior Performance & Minimal Dust for Enhanced Braking Experience by Josh Hamler

Revainrating 3 out of 5

brakes? Big. Sound? Calm. Dust? TERRIBLE!

I received these pads with slotted EBC Ultimax rotors for a complete makeover and had them professionally installed and changed the brake fluid to DOT 3/4 synthetic compound. I followed the break-in period exactly and now I have pads for about 800-1000 miles. Good news: if you want reliable braking, they'll do the job well! If you want to brake quietly, they squeak a little in the cold, but after that they're completely silent! HOWEVER they must have the MOST dust problems I have ever seen with a pad! I've since stocked both semi-metal pads and hawk pads and neither compares to the dust exposure! I usually wash my car once a week and have never noticed a heavy build up of brake dust. on my wheels, ALWAYS in the five years that I've owned my car, I've kept them mirror clean. These pads make that impossible unless I want to wipe them down every day! To test how bad it is, I took my car to the car wash this morning and then just drove to a few shops to run some errands and ended up wiping them off (it was quite a nasty one visible black dust COVERING the bezel) The attached image shows what the blue shopping paper towels looked like after both rims were subsequently wiped down. It's only a few rides apart, maybe 4-5 miles apart, so expect your rims to have that much dust every 30-40 miles!
