Set the timer for the same moment you turn it over and you'll find there's 3-5 minutes of sand left after the timer runs out. Because it gets so narrow at that midpoint, it looks fuller than it really is, but that amount of sand wears off quickly! I bought it to quietly remind myself when my hour-long limited Instagram live streams were about to end. But it's hard to tell when you're busy streaming unless you turn it around about 5 minutes before it starts. Rest only 2-3 minutes between lives. It doesn't seem heavy enough to keep it in a precarious place. It tips over very easily. Also, it's nice, simple, and exactly as described, but saving time is the whole point.
