Review on IDsonix USB3 0 Charging Windows Linux by Stephen Good

Best USB 3.0 hub - and I have five of them

I like everything about this hub so far. I like that it has ten USB ports that are easily accessible. I like its size: it's no bigger than it should be for ten ports, but it sits on my desk and doesn't wobble or slide like some hubs. Perhaps my favorite is that the nine top-access ports are arranged in three sets, each with an on/off switch. This almost solves a long-standing problem for this Mac user: Apple's USB 3 implementation on my Mac mini (and many other Macs) is shaky, and there have been several posts on Apple's discussion forums about it. The problem - with all five USB 3 hubs I've tried, from different manufacturers, including this one - is that USB 3 drives plugged into the hub often fail to mount on startup, while they work fine, if they are connected directly to the hub.. one of them. Mac USB ports. I've been talking to Apple tech support about this for over an hour to no avail. A workaround I've been using for months is to plug the hard drives into a power strip, leave the power strip off, and then turn it back on after the Mac has booted up. It works, but bending over is awkward, as is using your right toe. The switches on the iDsonix hub offer a much better workaround. Also, I have a few USB drives and I don't always want them all plugged in. This hub's three separate banks and switches allow me to select which drives I need for a specific project. When testing read/write performance of the same drives connected through a hub versus direct, there is virtually no difference. The additional 5V/2A charging port is another bonus. If I had anything to criticize, I could only say that I found a few typos in the instruction manual that came with it - that's it. Overall, whoever designed this product did a great job.
