We bought these pens to fix some broken blinds on our plantation blinds. We were hoping we wouldn't have to use a drill to install them, but we had to widen the pre-drilled holes in our shutters so they fit properly. You'll know if the hole isn't wide enough because it will compress the pin and prevent the spring-loaded pin from opening and closing easily. Enlarging the hole wasn't as big a problem as we thought - we were just a little nervous as my husband isn't very comfortable. Working carefully and slowly, we were able to replace the broken pins and insert the new part with no problem. We replaced two broken blinds for less than $5 and we're so thankful we didn't stop outsourcing. We got a quote for the repair and it cost $220,150 for a support call and $35 to fix each blind. If two not-so-savvy homeowners can fix a few broken pens, then so can you!
