Review on πŸ”ͺ Smiths Outdoors Pocket Sharpener 50364 by Chris Burns

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good for an art novice.

Suitable for a person unable to properly sharpen a knife using stones OR to temporarily restore the edge of a properly sharpened blade when the environment, time or place requires proper sharpening with do not allow wet stones. This gives the knife a decent sharpness, but nothing more. If you expect more from this device, then learn how to properly sharpen your knife. However, it will do a decent job of restoring the edge of a well-sharpened knife that is still in good condition. The flint and steel broke a second time with light use. I think this is more of a gimmick than someone who uses it regularly to start a fire. That's why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4. A lot of people like it mostly because it allows for a quick and easy way of attaching a blade to a knife, but mostly people who have no idea what a sharp knife really should be. . . Buy this to take on camping trips etc where you need to fix the blade quickly and buy the right wet rocks to give the blade a proper edge if you have the time and dedication.

Pros
  • Whetstones
Cons
  • Expensive
