First try with bowl/tray

I dived into the bowl/tray routing out of necessity. A friend asked me to make a very specific item - a "game board" (Michigan Runny) that looks like a tray for snacks; 1" center cutout surrounded by eight cutouts, two of which are larger than the others. The stencil is made from 1/2" layer. I've never done this before, I've searched the net for help and actually found more, than I could take. ordered Freud's Kugelkrone with no stock keeping and realized what I had done and canceled it. I ordered Whiteside. Received it quickly via Prime. Bat opened and checked. Solid, sharp, with good stock. Started (slowly ) using a Porter wire router to route through a 1.25 thick walnut jig, a softer wood compared to most hardwoods. The chisel worked fine and cut through the nut like it wasn't there at 1/8th inches or less passes. Very very happy. Only thing I did was put a few drops of motor oil in the bearing as the bit got hot after long runs. That helped but heat is still a problem and you just have to take your time not to overheat the racquet. One thing. When buying, you should pay attention to the radius of the bearing. Just because it's so big, it might NOT fit the angles you need for your project. This has happened to me, but the difference was so small that I decided to keep the new radius in some corners. Let me just say that the project is not finished yet as I had to lengthen the collet to finish it. Maybe today and when I remember I'll come back and post a photo! If the size fits, BUY THIS BIT! I have other Whiteside pieces and love them!
