Great WAP for the price

There are not enough online reviews for this product but the few that are are very informative. At first it looks like a smoke alarm, but it's about 30% larger in every way. It can pass as a smoke alarm if you turn off the electric blue lights that illuminate when it's on (the UI can turn off one or all 3 lights). Installation is as easy as installing a smoke alarm, provided you've already connected an Ethernet cable to the ceiling. I've installed several of these in different client locations and they work fine. Combine them with a great router that provides QoS and VPN and I can remotely inspect devices and manage traffic. Be sure to buy a real PoE injector when you get this one. The design of this unit assumes that you will install it in a place where there is no electricity, so you will have to power it through the wiring closet. So why not 5 stars? Engenius has developed an excellent device with a very user-friendly and stable firmware. However, they made a silly mistake by not giving it a 1Gbps connection as the Wireless N is supposed to offer 300Mbps WiFi speeds. It doesn't matter for most internet speeds, but why block a wired network connection to a switch? The cost difference between Cat5e and Cat6 is negligible and in most offices you will need to set up a new Ethernet connection to the ceiling. So what customer are you designing this for that already has a Cat5 cable hanging from the ceiling in a central, wireless-ready location? ? I see Engenius releasing the EAP350 with gigabit speeds. Can I exchange my EAP300?
