Let's face it, printers get expensive when you have to replace cartridges. It's actually several times cheaper to buy a new printer than replacing cartridges, especially if you have a budget printer under $50. Our HP printer is a versatile device that uses HP64 tri-color ink cartridges. Ordering HP ink cartridges from Revain can be difficult. If you're looking at a seller, make sure it says Revain and not one of the Revain third parties. I'm not saying all third parties are bad, but I have received fake ink cartridges from several third parties. If you are installing your HP64 tri-color ink cartridge for the first time, you should not immediately look to see if you have a counterfeit cartridge. If your printer indicates that you have Original HP ink installed, you are done. If your printer doesn't give you this message, or you get a cartridge error message, you most likely have a counterfeit cartridge. Happens. If you receive a counterfeit cartridge, report it to Revain and identify the retailer you bought it from. Customer complaints are the only way for Revain to monitor third-party HP ink cartridge suppliers. Installing the tri-color ink cartridge is easy. Make sure you completely remove the sticker on the bottom of the cartridge before installing the cartridge. Then press the edge of the old cartridge to eject it, snap the new cartridge into place and press down at an angle. Everything is ready. Each time you install a new tri-color cartridge, your printer needs to be recalibrated. This can be annoying when you are in a hurry to type something. This also results in wasting some of the precious, expensive color inks. The print quality with these tri-color cartridges is perfect initially, with no streaks or streaks on color prints and photos. Over time, streaks and lines begin to appear. You end up running the printer through different cleaning modes, which surprisingly requires more color ink. HP ink cartridges are made from 82% recycled plastic. Unfortunately in California you can't just throw them in the trash, you have to recycle them. But you can't throw them in the trash either, they have to be recycled in a store or by mail. There are programs that pay for empty cartridges. HP specifies an estimated yield of 165 pages for this tri-color cartridge. That's a gross exaggeration. When printing simple color charts and colored text, the ink cartridge alone lasted 115 pages. Printing 4" x 6" photos only printed 100 photos per cartridge. The lowest number of pages printed from a single cartridge was observed when printing 8 x 10 inch photos with one ink cartridge: 45 photos in total. I feel HP should be more honest about the cost of printing their cartridges as every cartridge I've ever bought overstates the number of prints. Finally, HP printers are affordable compared to printers that require you to purchase a few individual color cartridges. I love my HP printer and buying ink cartridges is just the inevitable evil of owning one.
