Review on Acer XV273K Pbmiipphzx: Ultra HD 4K Gaming Monitor with DisplayHDR400, 144Hz & Built-In Speakers by Sidney Blacc

Extremely bad viewing angle for IPS, average color depth despite HDR

I will update my review here in a few months as I now suspect I have a defective monitor. This monitor now works alongside TN 2160p panel, VA 1440p panel, TFT 1200p panel and old TN 900p panel. a lot of IPS glow and a very narrow viewing angle. The viewing angle is so narrow that centering your head back 2.5 feet on the screen still leaves the corners blurry and blue, and every fine detail in the color dispersion at the edges is completely invisible. If you move your head in line with any area of the screen, that area looks a lot better, but the rest of the screen looks awful. My roommate often comes up behind me and comments that my screen looks gray or blank when I'm playing a dark game because he's sitting behind my shoulder and has to kneel down to see contrast. Also, I'm running the monitor in HDR mode, with HDR enabled and confirmed in the NVIDIA Control Panel, and the color rendition and darkness of the black areas aren't as good as my non-HDR VA panel monitor, no matter how many I adjust settings.
