A great hard drive so far. I didn't know this NAS Plus drive runs at 7200 RPM. It can be a bit louder than 5400rpm drives, but when it is, it's not very noticeable unless you're near a PC. Disk-to-disk and network transfer speeds are excellent. After transferring large files for several hours, the temperature range remained from 90 degrees Fahrenheit at idle to 110 degrees Fahrenheit (after moving 2TB of video). I am using this drive in a standard HTPC case with no additional fans, with an Intel 775 motherboard, a quad core processor running Linux. Additional info for the nerds: I was planning on installing it on a separate NAS box, but decided instead to just add that drive to the HTPC and set up a network share on it. Works perfectly. If you are looking for NAS plus HTPC storage, I would suggest you use only one device - HTPC. Boot from a small SSD with a second large NAS disk set up in an fstab file with a mount point on a network share. Linux allows you to set a mount point for a partition of any size as a virtual file system in a shared folder on your boot drive. Note that the partition is automatically mounted only if specified in the fstab file, and due to operating system file security, it cannot be unmounted unless it is mounted in a folder on the boot drive.
